In the six-week study, subjects aged 21-60 years were divided into two groups. One group refrained from food intake to 12 am, while the other ate breakfast everyday, and was consuming 350 calories at least two hours after getting up and another 350 extra calories to 11 am.
The first daily meal is the key to health
The intake of the morning meal did not affect on the weight loss in subjects, but showed great impact on reducing food intake during the rest of the day, and greater physical activity during the morning. Given the increase in activity is important for improving the lifestyle, this may be the main benefits of breakfast consumption among people with obesity.
When taking into account the results of other similar studies, it can be concluded that the first daily meal can significantly contribute to better health.
Although in this study the respondents themselves determined the foods they’ll consume, experts note that not all breakfasts are equal – the correct choice of food is also important in order to extract the best from the morning meal.
