Disturbing study: Here is how many eggs we can consume a week!

Eggs are rich in cholesterol, so when consumed in large quantities can cause a blockage of the arteries and increase your risk of heart attack or stroke.

Middle-aged men who eat seven or more eggs a week are at greater risk of early death than their peers who do not practice this, while diabetics who eat even one egg a week are at higher death risk, found a US study which lasted 20 years.

Doctors from the Medical School of Harvard University note that men who do not suffer from diabetes, can eat up to six eggs a week, and thus does not increase the risk of premature death.

The team from the prestigious University studied the medical reports of 21,327 US physicians who participated in the extensive study on the health of medical workers. Doctors were followed for 20 years, since 1981, and during this time they gave regular reports on their health and lifestyle. During those two decades, 1,550 participants experienced a heart attack, 1,342 people experienced stroke, and total more than 5,000 died.

It was determined that those who ate seven or more eggs per week were at risk greater than 23 percent die during the 20-year period, and diabetics who consumed only one egg were below twice the risk of dying from any cause, particularly from heart attack or stroke.

However, Dr. Robert Eekelen of the University of Colorado, former president of the American Heart Association, said that eggs and any other food are – neither good nor bad. So, the eggs should not be completely removed from the diet, because they are excellent in fighting stress because they supply the body with protein and are good for immunity, as they are one of the few foods that supply the body with vitamin D.

Moreover, only one egg per day covers 26 percent of the needs of the body of folic acid. It stimulates brain function, strengthens eyesight, slows aging and enhances sexuality.

Therefore, individuals with no health problems can consume eggs without any remorse, while people with elevated cholesterol should seek medical advice.
